Integrated Manufacturing CAD/CAM/CIM (ETM 260) course for engineering students

Middlesex Community College is offering Computer Aided Design and Integrated Manufacturing CAD/CAM/CIM (ETM 260) course for engineering students.

Middlesex Community College (MxCC) is arranging a Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) engineering course that will be conducted at the Middletown campus in the Fall 2019 semester commencing from August 27.

The course is titled as Computer Aided Design and Integrated Manufacturing CAD/CAM/CIM (ETM 260) and it is an introduction to solid modeling for design, drawing, assembly, mass property analysis and manufacturing operations on a CAD/CAM/CIM system. The focus is given on computer hardware utilization for designing products. No prerequisites are necessary since everybody can register for the course. It is best suited for the students in view of transfer to CCSU’s four-year engineering programs.

“This class hilights Siemens NX CAD software and is open to anyone having in interest in engineering. Even general students or people working in the industry can join the class.

The lecture and laboratory course is open to new and continuing MxCC students and CCSU students at part-time CCSU tuition rates. Full-time MxCC students will be able to enroll in this course without any extra fees.

Interested MxCC students and potential students should first register as a non-degree CCSU student prior to enlist in the course. These students will be able to submit CCSU course registration forms directly to CCSU until online registration at CCSU commences on July 15. Starting on July 15, non-degree students can sign up for the course online via CCSU’s website (

How Haskell uses 3d laser scanning technology for water retrieval project

Laser Scanning is a very useful technology for 3d modelers. It is a one kind of survey device that facilitates the users to get exact measurements in complex surroundings. The device gathers survey data points at the speed of 50,000 points per second and contains an successful range of 400 to 500 feet. Just arrange scan setups within the facility and you will get the complete 3D model that can be applied to generate 2D civil or architectural drawings, 3D computer models as well as final survey documents.

Watch the following live demonstration through youtube which shows how Haskell, a leading USA basedarchitectureengineering, and construction firm, has recently applied 3d laser scanning technique in a water retrieval project.

Bentley Systems introduces a series of information modeling software like WaterCAD, WaterGEMS & HAMMER V8i

Bentley Systems, the leading solution provider for sustainable infrastructure, has just introduced series 5 releases of WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, and HAMMER V8i. These information modeling softwares will be ideal for studying and designing of water distribution system effectively.

Integrated with BIM capabilities, these softwares expand information mobility toward water system planning, design, engineering and operations. The collaboration will be enhanced inside the stages of the infrastructure lifecycle, and superior decision can be taken for improved project and system performance.

With these new products, the modelers and operators can get better visibility, forecasting, and decision-making support. The system modelers will be able to import supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) data automatically into their hydraulic models to be utilized as initial conditions. System operators can circulate model results to the utility’s accessible SCADA system control screen through the industry-standard OPC communication protocol , facilitating forecast operating conditions. The system operators can assess and envisage model predictions directly in their regular user interface.

The hydraulic modelers are benefited with strong visualization tools to check SCADA signals while they are modified concerning real-time events as well as view events when they occur and improve decision making.

The WaterCAD and WaterGEMS V8i (SELECTseries 5) software are applied to unambiguously model water demands for individual water customers in their exact physical locations. The modellers can get more clarity as well as manipulating power over where demands are distributed and handle those demands efficiently.

WaterCAD and WaterGEMS users can test multi-species water quality analyses. HAMMER users can test multiple scenarios as a batch run, like the batch run functionality in WaterCAD and WaterGEMS. WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, and HAMMER users will be able to use hydraulic models (including results) as i-models to be utilized with Bentley Map Mobile, an app compatible with Android, iPad, and iPad mini tablets; that can model from within the latest versions of MicroStation, AutoCAD (including AutoCAD 2015), and (except WaterCAD) ArcGIS (including ArcGIS 10.2).
