JTB World recently launched HVACPAC, an exclusive AutoCAD app for creating design of HVAC and Piping system in 2D and 3D.

Tips to improve the Revit Templates

Revit Project Templates provide a beginning environment and standards for new projects and project templates are used as either the default templates or define custom templates to encourage office standards. Besides of giving a beginning point for a new project, a project template also provides view templates, loaded families, defined settings and geometry etc.

After installing Revit software in the system, it opens various templates for different disciplines and types of building projects while users can also create project templates to locate specific needs or to ensure observance to office standards. As Revit has lot of facilities and tools for the users, it has become the favorite one of the architects, designers, project managers, virtual construction modelers and BIM managers.

Use Templates in files and views: Viewer templates are very useful and the people who work with Worksets find some difficulty to configure the visibility of every Workset. So this template helps to see the limit of views, the appearance of categories, filters and many more; using templates also makes the views standard and make them faster.

1. Use Worksharing: Most of the people are not aware about the templates and still create separate models of a project and then keep them in separate files to join them together, it is a time taking work. 9. Purge: As the Revit models are huge, templates help to keep them in order but unnecessary templates are a burden, the Purge command deletes the unnecessary ones.
10. The drawing options: This advantage Draw Options tool allows creating different proposals within the one Revit file.

Sanveo, a leading technology and Services Company offering Building Information Modeling (BIM) and BIM coordination services to AEC industry, is seeking some knowledgeable Building Information Modeling (BIM) professional having 3D modeling and 2D drafting expertise with Revit and AutoCAD MEP.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • MS or foreign corresponding to Construction Management/Technology from recognized US Universities preferred or having 3-5 years of experience in handling BIM detailing work procedures which range from Pre-construction to construction stages of commercial construction.
  • Well versed with BIM Authoring and Analysis tools like AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP and Navisworks. Mechanical Detailing skill is required but not essential.
  • Knowledge in CADDuct and CADMech will be an added advantage but not necessary.
  • If required, the candidate has to undergo training on Revit, CADDuct and CADMech.
  • outstanding collaborative and organizational skills together with good communicate.
  • Verified project support experience.

Learn to make as well as import styles through Style Manager in AutoCAD Architecture or AutoCAD MEP

Issue: There is no option for applying style in a file. But one can make his own styles or import available styles from another file. To perform this, apply the following tricks:-


 1. To tailor styles on the basis of the Standard styles:-

  •          Click on the style manager to open it.
  •          Broaden a Style Category (eg. Wall Styles).
  •          Opt for the Standard style in the category.
  •          To replicate the standard style, apply the Copy and Paste buttons situated in the tool                  bar.
  •           Underneath the original style, there will be a Standard (2) style.
  •           Change the name of the style.
  •          Modify the properties of the style with the tabs located at the right. The tabs range                      from General, Design Rules, Overrides, Materials, Classifications, Displa Properties, and            Version History.

2. To import aceessible styles from another drawing file:


  •       Click and open the Style Manager (STYLEMANAGER).
  •      Navigate and open the file that contains the existing styles through the Open menu in the        tool bar.
  •      The drawing and its styles will be visible in the file tree underneath the existing drawing.
  •       Extend a Style Category (eg. Wall Styles).
  •       In the existing drawing, drag and drop specific styles into the related category or drag               and    drop the full category to copy all styles.


The default location for the Imperial Architecture can be found below:-

The default location for the Imperial MEP content can be found below:-

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\MEP 201x\enu\Styles\Imperial


For metric or other local content, choose the exact folder within the Styles folder.


Keep in mind that this folder is hidden and in order to get the files inside the hidden folder, activate Windows Explorer.


3. If no style prevails in a category:


  •          Right-click on the category (eg. Wall Styles).
  •          Click on “New” to create a new style.
  •          Modify the properties of the style with the tabs located at the right.
