Create a energy model of your building instantly with Project Rosenfeld, an application from Autodesk

Autodesk has launched a first-in-the-industry app alias Project Rosenfeld that can be applied to produce a building energy model lying on your iPad, in the jobsite out of some photographs.

Project Rosenfeld is an interactive, mobile based application that enables you to instantly and expeditiously capture the condition of actual building and generate 3D models for testing energy. Just snap a photograph of the building through an iPad and go through the step-by-step procedures for producing a digital model of the present building. After that, you will get an energy model as well as a comprehensive report on energy assessment that can be applied to facilitate energy conservation measures.

ProjectRosenfeld contains the following exclusive features:-

  • Formation of 3D model by photo matching and tracing.
  • Green Building Studio energy study.
  • Energy appraisal reports involving charts, graphs, and data on EUI, fuel consumption, and potential energy savings.

In order to have a technology preview, just fill up the survey here: www.autode.sk/rosenfeld.

BIMcollab is the first ever issue tracking sytem for BIM projects

KUBUS, the recognized distributor for Graphisoft as well as Gold Partner of Solibri Inc, just unveiled the launching of a new revolutionary product alias BIMcollab®. This BCF supported & cloud based comprehensible issue tracking system for BIM projects is compatible with ArchiCAD, Revit and simplebim.

This newest BIM application reduces the gap amid various BIM tools and aims at the multidisciplinary cooperation involving companies dealing with construction projects. BIMcollab® will be effective to handle issues all through the design and construction stages where BIM is already in use. BIMcollab® consolidates issue management in the cloud and makes the procedures simple by providing a planned method for accumulating, sharing and managing issues

As for example, if any problem is detected with Solibri Model Checker or BIMsight, it can be published to BIMcollab®. The BIM modeller will receive automatic notification and immediately hunt for the problematical objects in his BIM authoring tool (Revit, ArchiCAD, etc) instantly. BIMcollab® can find out a solution for the issue and resolve it in quickest possible tie and point out to the BIM manager.

The users can access BIMcollab® from any remote location and from any gadgets ranging from mobiles and tablets. BIMcollab® also facilitates generating issues by snapping photographs immediately at the jobsite of construction. The real-time connections result in offering the latest information.

The users can access the complete version of BCF managers together with the BIMcollab® at free of cost.

BIMcollab® will be available for commercial usages in the first week of December.

Revit Server – Moving Projects to a New Host Server

To move Revit Server projects to a new host the user needs to have physically save them to the new host through Revit. This is also the perfect time to clean up the file before vigorously using the new central file in production. You can access the link to file preservation here.

For those of you using Revit Server, it is still important to maintain the central file. Keeping the central file healthy is critical to keeping the project running smoothly and to avoid causing file corruption. Below are best practices that need to be done routinely on the central file to keep it clean. Routinely is going to depend on how active the project is. The more active the project is, the more often it should be maintained. This should be done on all models sincelinks impact model performance as well.

IMAGINiT Technologies, A Rand Worldwide Company (OTCBB:RWWI), is the world’s largest provider of enterprise solutions to the engineering community, has brought this one.

Make sure that the entry for the new Host is in the rsn.ini file and create the project and folder structure through the Revit Server Administrator (or Clarity if you are using that).

Process:

  • Have all users synchronize and save to central on the current host, make sure all worksets are relinquished, close the local files.
  • Have one user Open the Central file. From the Open dialog box, clear the check box Create New Local, place a check in the boxes for Detach from Central and Audit.
Revit Server - Moving Projects to a New Host Server
  • Select the Yes button from the Audit Warning dialog box and then click the Open button.
  • You will see the following Detach Model from Central dialog box, select Detach and preserve worksets.
  • In Revit, go to the Application Menu R and click on Save as, Project and Browse to the new Host location and the proper folder. Name the file accordingly.
Revit Server - Moving Projects to a New Host Server

Note: If you select Options you will notice that Make this a Central Model after save and Compact are greyed out and pre-checked.

  • Go to Manage Links and Unload the links until they are moved to the new host. After all files are moved you will need to open the files and reload from to point to the files on the new host.
  • Synchronize and modify settings

Check everything that can be checked including compact if you like, although the process of saving the file to a new location will already do this. You can add a comment if you like; this shows up in History under comments.

After the save is complete, close the project.

This process will need to be done for all models in the project.

This Step is CRITICAL: Before having users create new local files make sure they delete or archive/rename their old local files and their back up folder.

Once all of the models are saved to the new host have one user open a local file and repath the links. Sync with central and relinquish. Now all users should be able to pull new local files (See * comment above) from the new host.
